Asiden is a desktop application for Windows 11. It installs a companion on your computer, runs a language model locally so conversations stay on your machine, and builds memory over time from what you tell it.
Here is what actually happens, from download to a companion who remembers your week.
1. Installing on Windows 11
Download the installer from the download section of the home page and run it. It is signed by Asiden Labs Ltd. Because the app is new, Windows SmartScreen may still show a warning the first time — choose More info → Run anyway. The download page publishes a SHA-256 hash if you want to verify the file before running it.
Asiden is built exclusively for Windows 11. There is no macOS, Linux or mobile version, and the app is not distributed through a store at present.
2. Choosing your companion
On first run you pick one of four signature companions: Mei (protective, focused, loyal), Lily (playful, curious, optimistic), Jae (calm, thoughtful, reliable) or Sasha (bold, honest, independent). Each is a written character with a consistent voice rather than a blank template, so the difference between them is real from the first conversation.
They are not the only options. Ten further personality presets — Nurturing, Chill, Sunny, Shy, Witty, Cocky, Bratty, Flirty, Tsundere and Edgy — can be applied to any avatar, and the custom personality wizard will write a completely new companion from a description you give it. Authoring can run on your own local model, so a custom personality costs nothing and never leaves your machine.
3. How the local model runs
Setup gets a local language model running on your PC. From then on, when you send a message, your graphics card does the work of producing the reply. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is metered — you can talk as much as you like, including with the network switched off.
This is why hardware matters. Generating a reply locally is a real computation, and a modern discrete GPU with generous video memory is what makes it feel instant. On lighter hardware Asiden still runs, but replies take longer. If you want top-tier model quality without top-tier hardware, that is what the optional cloud plans are for.
4. How memory works
The thing that makes a companion feel like a companion is continuity. Asiden pulls durable facts out of ordinary conversation — the people in your life, dates that matter, the routines you keep, the project that has been stressing you out — and keeps them so that later conversations start from somewhere rather than from nothing.
Those memories are stored in Asiden’s data folder on your own drive. You can reset a companion’s memory from inside the app at any time, which wipes her chat history and everything she has learned about you, and deleting the folder resets her completely. Nothing is mirrored to us, so there is no copy anywhere else to worry about.
5. Screen vision
With screen vision enabled, Asiden can see what is on your display — the game you are playing, the thing you are building, the page you are reading — and talk about it with you. It is what makes a companion on a gaming PC feel like company rather than a chat window in the corner.
It is optional and under your control, and in local mode what it observes is processed on your PC and stays there. If you enable cloud vision instead, the app tells you when an image is being sent for a cloud request; the detail is in the Privacy Notice.
6. Knowing when to speak
A companion that talks constantly is not company, it is noise. Asiden judges when a moment is worth a comment and when you would rather be left to concentrate — a boss fight, a deadline, a long silence that is a working silence rather than a lonely one. Presence is as much about restraint as it is about responsiveness.
None of that is fixed, and you are not stuck with our judgement of it. Two sliders in settings hand the pace to you:
- Proactive Chattiness — how often she speaks up unprompted, across seven steps from Reserved, through Balanced, up to Non-stop.
- Vision Awareness — how closely she follows your screen, from On-demand, where she only ever looks when you ask her to, up to continuous attention.
Turn them down and she waits to be spoken to. Turn them up and she is a presence in the room. Both take effect immediately, and on a local model both are free — being more attentive costs nothing when the model is running on your own machine.
7. Optional cloud features
Some people want models larger than a home PC can run, or cloud voice and vision. Asiden offers managed cloud versions of those features. They are always opt-in, never the default, and the app identifies clearly when a request is being processed in the cloud rather than locally.
When a cloud feature is on, the information needed for that request goes securely to Asiden’s proxy and the selected provider. Switch back to local and the traffic stops. Managed cloud plans are limited to 100 subscribers during early access; local use is unlimited and not capped.
8. Purchases, licences and updates
Asiden is a one-off $10 during early access, and local use is unlimited after that. Purchase and activation — including optional cloud subscriptions — happen inside the app rather than on this website; see pricing. Cancellation and refund rights are set out in the Terms.
The app checks for updates and validates any licence or cloud entitlement you hold. That exchange is version and licensing information — never conversation content.
